Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing to return to full capacity operations after heavy rains caused disruptions at the world's busiest international airport. On Friday, Dubai airport temporarily limited the number of arriving flights. This 48-hour restriction, which started at noon local time on April 19, will end today.

Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, told state news agency Emirates News Agency on Saturday that departure operations are witnessing a steady improvement. Paul Griffiths also added that Dubai Airports is fully dedicated to restoring normal operations as quickly as possible. On April 19, the Indian embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) advised Indian passengers to reschedule non-essential travel until operations return to normal at the Dubai airport. DXB has witnessed flight diversions, delays, and cancellations due to heavy rain in recent days.

Meanwhile, Emirates and flydubai restored normal operations from Saturday. In an open letter to airline passengers, Emirates CEO Tim Clark said that this week has been "one of the toughest" for Emirates operationally. "I would like to offer our most sincere apologies to every customer who has had their travel plans disrupted during this time," added the Emirates CEO. Tim Clark also said in the open letter that dozens of flights were diverted on Tuesday and "nearly 400 flights" were cancelled in the following three days.
